Characteristics of bulimia
- Recurrent episodes of binge eating and vomiting, usually in secret triggered by amongst other things unpleasant feelings, interpersonal difficulties and hunger through strict dieting
- Eating an amount of food within a period of time that is larger than most people would eat in the same period of time
- A sense of lack of control
- Using laxatives
- Excessive exercising
- Obsessed about weight and link the issue to levels of self esteem
- Tend to be perfectionists
Many people who suffer from bulimia are perfectionists who want to be in control.
Bulimia stems from subconscious unhealthy beliefs, which leads to unhealthy thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
Unhealthy beliefs are usually in the form of musts, should or have tos.
In relation to perfectionism the belief may take the form of “ I must do everything perfectly, if I don’t it is the worst thing, I can’t stand it and if I don’t do everything perfectly, I am a failure.
This unhealthy belief is rigid, unrealistic, doesn’t make sense and doesn’t help.
This unhealthy belief then results in negative thoughts, feelings, behaviour and symptoms.
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy uncovers unhealthy beliefs which are held in the subconscious, changes them to healthier beliefs resulting in healthier thoughts, feelings, behaviour and symptoms.
Hypnotherapy adds a powerful dynamic in that it weakens the unhealthy belief and strengthens the healthy belief.
A minimum of two sessions would be required at a cost of £100 in total. If you require further sessions they are £65 per session or a further block of 2 sessions at a cost of £100 in total
